EQUIPPING PEOPLE WITH TOOLS TO SUCCEED
The mission of the PATH Fund (formerly Panhandle Prosperity) is to increase the financial stability and success of the Texas Panhandle Region. The program is led by six local stakeholders: Amarillo Area Foundation, Amarillo National Bank, Baptist Community Services, FirstBank Southwest, First Capital Bank, and Happy State Bank. During 2017-18, the stakeholders developed a pilot project to support small business development in underserved communities. Targeting the north and east areas of Amarillo, we recruited individuals with either existing small businesses or the desire to start a small business. The pilot program provided training in the areas of business plans, marketing, accounting, and other areas based on clients’ needs. Stakeholders provided volunteer “guides” to assist and mentor the clients. The PATH Fund is fully launching in 2019. A loan pool is also being developed among the stakeholders that is targeted to assist clients who successfully complete the program.
These initiatives and programs encourage innovation across multiple sectors, provide financial support, resources, and technical expertise to create pathways to financial stability and building assets.
