Louise Bowers Slentz Foundation

 

Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2012 by the Louise Bowers Slentz Foundation Donor Advised Fund, which is administered by the Amarillo Area Foundation.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Carson, Donley, Gray, Hemphill, Roberts or Wheeler counties;
  • Exhibit financial need; and
  • Must plan to attend an accredited regional college or university in the North or South Plains of the Texas Panhandle, which includes any college in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle plus Texas Tech University or South Plains Community College.

Scholarship Amount

  • $1,500/semester for up to 8 semesters

Scholarship Requirements

*Each semester’s payment is contingent upon meeting the following:

  • Recipient must attend college the fall semester immediately following selection;
  • Maintain full-time student status (typically 12 credit hours/semester for undergraduate studies);
  • Maintain a 2.5 or better cumulative GPA while in college; and
  • Attend any accredited college in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle plus Texas Tech University or South Plains Community College, and major in any undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral field of study.
