Jerry M. Speed Memorial
Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the family of Jerry M. Speed in his memory to benefit residents of the Texas Panhandle. During his 35-year career as a funeral director, Mr. Speed assisted countless families in the care of their loved ones. This scholarship benefits students who plan to pursue a career in the service industry, especially mortuary science and health.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Amarillo High, Caprock High, Palo Duro High or Tascosa High School; and
- Exhibit financial need.

Scholarship Amount
- $500/semester for up to 8 semesters
Scholarship Requirements
*Each semester’s payment is contingent upon meeting the following:
- Recipient must attend college the fall semester immediately following selection;
- Maintain full-time student status (typically 12 credit hours/semester for undergraduate studies);
- Maintain a 2.5 or better cumulative GPA while in college; and
- Attend Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University and major in the service industry, especially mortuary science and health.
