HOW TO SIGN UP

All incoming freshman to Caprock and Palo Duro High Schools who are US Citizens, permanent residents, or refugees (proof must be provided) are eligible to sign up for ACE.  The sign up process can be done at registration or no later than September 30 in the ACE office at the high school. Students may transfer to participate in the ACE Program at Caprock or Palo Duro High Schools. Paperwork requesting the transfer must be submitted by May 1st prior to the school year. AISD will make decisions on the requested transfers. To be eligible for the ACE Program at Tascosa High School, the student must have completed 5th grade 2009 or later from Lee Bivins Elementary, Margaret Wills Elementary or San Jacinto Elementary. The sign up process is the same but, there are no transfers to Tascosa High School for the ACE Program.

FAQ's

Q. WHAT WILL ACE PAY FOR?
A. ACE pays for the balance of tuition, books and fees after all federal financial aid and scholarships are applied. ACE will only pay for required supplies that are listed on the class syllabus that can be purchased through the college bookstore. ACE will not pay for musical instruments or tools that are non-consumable. Call the ACE Program Director if you have any questions regarding ACE eligible items.

Q. IF I START AT A COLLEGE OTHER THAN AC OR WTAMU, CAN I TRANSFER BACK AND USE MY ACE ELIGIBILITY?
A. A student can transfer to AC or WTAMU within one year after graduation and request to use their ACE status regardless of hours or grades received at college previously attended. You must contact the ACE Program Director and complete all requirements prior to enrolling in classes or making alternate payment arrangements.

Q. WHAT DO I DO IF I RUN INTO PROBLEMS WITH PASSING A CLASS AND FEEL THAT I NEED TO DROP A CLASS?
A. Before doing anything, meet with your advisor and contact the ACE Program Director.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT COMPLETE MY FINANCIAL AID FOLDER PRIOR TO THE START OF COLLEGE EACH YEAR?
A. You will not be eligible for ACE funding until it has been completed. If you need assistance or have additional questions, contact the ACE Program Director.

Q. I DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID LAST YEAR, DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE FINANCIAL AID FOLDER THIS YEAR?
A. Regardless of eligibility of federal financial aid, this must be completed each and every year.

Q. WHY SHOULD I KEEP MY ACE STATUS IF FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID OR SCHOLARSHIPS ARE PAYING FOR MY COLLEGE?
A. ACE students receive many benefits other than scholarship money including extra support services at both colleges and through the ACE Program Director, newsletters, updates, and assistance with transfers and financial aid. Also, ACE is a safety net in case your financial situation changes and you are no longer eligible to receive federal assistance or scholarships.
