Bob and Lanna Hatton



Bob and Lanna Hatton spent most of their adult lives in New Jersey, and returned home to Amarillo after retirement.  Bob’s career was in communications, and Lanna taught special education for 30 years in New Jersey.  The Hattons are very civic minded philanthropic individuals, and established this scholarship in 2002 to benefit students wishing to pursue a degree in Education.


  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle;
  • Maintain a cumulative high school GPA of 80 (3.2 on a 4.0 scale); and
  • Exhibit community involvement and leadership.

Scholarship Amount

  • $1,000/semester for up to 8 semesters

Scholarship Requirements

*Each semester’s payment is contingent upon meeting the following:

  • Recipient must attend college the fall semester immediately following selection;
  • Maintain full-time student status (typically 12 credit hours/semester for undergraduate studies);
  • Maintain a 3.2 or better cumulative GPA while in college; and
  • Attend any accredited college/university and major in Education.
