C.C. "Bus" and Freda Dugger Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2016 with a gift from the Estate of C.C. “Bus” Dugger.  Mr. Dugger, along with Cal Farley, formed Amarillo’s Kids, Incorporated in January 1945, which continues to serve youth sports teams in Amarillo. Mr. Dugger received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from West Texas State University in 1955 and 1956 and went on to teach school in Groom, Amarillo and at Boys Ranch.  He retired as principal at Boys Ranch in 1982.  His love of children and education will benefit junior and senior college students that graduated from high schools located in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle for many years to come.  This scholarship is restricted to West Texas A&M University students.

Eligibility

Applicant must have graduated from a high school in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle;

Be a sophomore college student who will be attending West Texas A&M University for their junior year; and

Must have a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 to apply.

Scholarship Amount

$1,000/semester for up to 4 semesters

Scholarship Requirements

*Each semester’s payment is contingent upon meeting the following:

Recipient must attend college the fall semester immediately following selection;

Maintain full-time student status (typically 12 credit hours/semester for undergraduate studies);

Maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA while in college; and

Attend West Texas A&M University and major in field of choice.
