Before the caps and gowns are on and Pomp and Circumstance is played, we wanted to pause and congratulate the graduating class of 2019.  Wethe Amarillo Area Foundation, are so proud of the young women and men who will walk across the stage and into a new chapter this weekend.

That’s why we, along with a long list of donors, have invested so heavily in the educational attainment in the Texas Panhandle.  This year we are so proud to have awarded $588,552 in scholarships, not including ACE and THRIVE scholarship programs, to 330 students in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.  Our very first scholarship was awarded in 1971, and with the support of our donors, millions have been awarded since that time.

588KIt’s our mission to improve quality of life for Texas Panhandle residents, and that’s why we hope the next chapter for each student is a credential or degree that leads to a living wage.  That’s why our scholarship program is so important to us.  We know the future is walking across the stage, and it’s going to take those very students to meet the unique challenges facing our area.

If you will be graduating in 2020, it’s never too early to begin the work of figuring out how you are going to pay for college.  Remember, our application opens in November each year and closes the second Friday in February.  Those scholarships are awarded the following fall semester.   =

If you are currently enrolled in college, you are also in luck, because there are a variety of scholarships to help you complete your degree.  The schedule is the same.

As we said before, it is our donors who make our scholarship program possible.  If you would like to know how to set up a scholarship fund, please contact us or call 806.376.4521

So, as those students turn over their tassels, we are proud to celebrate their accomplishments.
