The mission of the Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center is to challenge and equip nonprofit organizations to be self-sufficient and accountable through consulting, education, networking, and resources. The NSC provides numerous educational sessions each year presented by local and nationally-known speakers.  These sessions are available at very reasonable rates.

The Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center’s goal is to provide an interactive topical experience for participants, address the hot-button issues they are facing, and collectively take advantage of and share their knowledge and experience. Roxann Ball

Nonprofit Service Center Program Officer

Roxann Ball has over 20 years of nonprofit management, accounting, and fundraising experience and has been a resident of Amarillo for the last 14 years. Roxann served as Business Manager at Marian High School, a nonprofit girl’s academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and in the accounting department of Upper Hudson Primary Care Consortium, providing data for the organization’s Grant Writer. She's been an employee of the Amarillo Area Foundation for the last twelve years and currently serves as Program Officer for the Nonprofit Service Center where she directs the Center’s consulting, education, and peer group activities. Roxann is a member of the High Plains Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, serving as Board President in 2013 and National Philanthropy Day Chair in 2012. She is currently a regent on the board of Ascension Academy. Roxann served as President of the Bravo Board of the Amarillo Opera, a guest reader at Opportunity School and a voting member of the Madge Marmaduke Scholarship Committee. She also served on the Yaddo Artist Retreat Annual Benefit Committee and the Summer Gala Committee for the New York City Ballet. Roxann is committed to using her skills and the resources of the Amarillo Area Foundation in exceptional service to the nonprofit community of the Texas Panhandle. Roxann is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Emily Wood

Vice President of Community Investment

Emily Wood has more than 16 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Emily served as the Foundations Manager for New York City's historic homeless shelter, The Bowery Mission, and as a Development Director for the Amarillo Symphony, Opportunity School, and Amarillo Children’s Home. She also has operated Emily Wood Consulting, a company helping nonprofits achieve their goals by facilitating strategic planning, database management training, grant writing, executive search and fundraising assistance. In 2018, Emily joined the Amarillo Area Foundation as the Vice President of Community Investment. Emily is a member of the High Plains Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She also volunteers weekly with high school girls living in foster care. She is passionate about working together with the people of the Texas Panhandle to care for our neighbors so our communities thrive. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, minoring in Journalism. Emily also received intensive fundraising training at The Foundation Center and The Support Center for Nonprofit Management in Manhattan.

Resources Available

As a member of the Funding Information Network, the NSC offers free access to the Foundation Directory Online (FDO) which provides information on private foundations across the U.S. and their funding priorities.  The FDO computer is available to the general public from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday (except for holidays). FDO orientations are available by appointment.
